The Winston Drama program is a unique program that serves a broad variety of students. It focuses on team building and group work while still maintaining focus on each student’s individual needs. The goal of the program is to provide students an environment to explore. Drama is a place where students come to release energy and discover their talents.
The program combines a number of drama techniques and activities to teach students about the theatre and its many varieties. The program focuses largely on improvisation and role-playing strategies. Through the use of drama, students learn to build character and self-esteem.
The Winston School drama program puts on two productions a year with a few mini-productions scheduled in between. The production process is one all the students enjoy; it is not about the end result but the process as a whole that makes each Winston performance so unique.
The drama class and activities are led by Stephanie Finkelberg whose training and experience in the theatre have given her many resources on which to draw as she directs The Winston School’s productions and theatre activities.
